Features: Sorry about the crooked picture....The actual item is level.The spiritual axiom associated with the "Hand on Mouth" is humility. One must speak no evil or ill will towards others, and one must not speak to matters of which they do not know. The native Indians accepted these virtues and limitations with dignity. This item is hand crafted on the world's largest Fluvial Island known as Marajo, Amazonia, Brazil, where the descendants of the Marajoara people live. Many of these people are artisans skilled in a very unique and special pottery which has been past down through thousands of generations. The clay is extracted from the river banks and worked by hand until softened. Then the clay is thrown onto the wheel to shape the basic form. Afterwards, the pieces are dried in the sun to leather hard, then incised with the traditional drawings which have been used for centuries to communicate their culture and customs.
