Features: On the misty Amazon River there lies the world's largest Fluvial Island known as Marajoara where the descendants of the Marajoara people live. Many of these people are artisans skilled in a very unique and special pottery which has been past down through thousands of generations. The clay is extracted from the river banks and worked by hand until softened. Then the clay is thrown onto the wheel to shape the basic form. Afterwards, the pieces are dried in the sun to leather hard, then incised with the traditional drawings which were used mileniums before. These drawings were used (and are still used) to communicate their culture and customs.
