The beauty and intricacy of this piece will be adored by you and your guests for years. The Marajoara clay pottery comes from the Northern region of Brazil in the Amazon Rainforests. This artwork involves special detailing and craftsmanship to complete with perfection. On the misty Amazon River there lies the world's largest Fluvial Island known as Marajo where the descendants of the Marajoara people live. Many of these people are artisans skilled in a very unique and special pottery which has been past down through thousands of generations. The clay is extracted from the river banks and worked by hand until softened. Then the clay is thrown onto the wheel to shape the basic form. Afterwards, the pieces are dried in the sun to leather hard, then incised with the traditional drawings reflecting their culture and heritage. Measures Approx. 18" H x 12" D.
